Credits & Pricing
Credits let you use B-Roll Me's AI features without setting up your own API keys. Purchase a credit pack, and we handle the AI calls on your behalf. No provider accounts, no key management.
Overview
B-Roll Me has two ways to power its AI features: Credits and BYOK (Bring Your Own Key). Credits are the simpler path. Sign in with your phone number, buy a credit pack, and you're ready to analyze scripts and evaluate clips right away.
When you use Credits mode, B-Roll Me routes your AI requests through our backend. Your credit balance decreases as you use the app, and you top it up whenever you need more.
Credits require signing in with your phone number. If you haven't done that yet, see the Authentication guide.
How Credits Work
Credits are consumed per AI operation. Two operations use credits:
- • Script Analysis — The AI reads your script and identifies B-Roll moments. Cost scales with script length and your chosen density setting.
- • Clip Evaluation — The AI scores a batch of search results for relevance. Cost depends on how many clips are in the batch.
YouTube searching and transcript fetching are free. They don't touch your credit balance.
Credits never expire. Buy a pack today and use it whenever you need it.
Purchasing Credits
There are two ways to open the purchase modal:
- • Click the credit balance badge in the top-right corner of the header.
- • Go to Settings > Credits and click Buy Credits.
The modal shows available credit packs with their prices. Select a pack, complete the payment, and your balance updates immediately. For current pricing, check the purchase modal or the Pricing page.
Viewing Your Balance
When you're signed in and using Credits mode, your balance appears as a badge in the header. It updates after each operation.
For a full breakdown, go to Settings > Credits. That section shows your current balance and a transaction history with each entry's date, type (Purchase, Used, or Refund), and credit amount.
Credits vs BYOK — Which Should I Use?
Both are first-class options. The right choice depends on how you work.
Credits
- • No API key setup required
- • Simple, predictable pricing
- • Just sign in and go
- • Best for: getting started quickly, occasional use, or not wanting to manage provider accounts
BYOK
- • Full control over which AI model you use
- • Pay providers directly at their rates
- • Requires a $49 license key
- • Best for: heavy users, wanting specific models, or already having API keys set up
You can switch between modes at any time from the header. See the Authentication docs for details on switching modes.
Cost Estimation
Before you run an analysis, B-Roll Me shows a cost preview so you know what you'll spend. The estimate is based on your script's word count and the density setting you've chosen.
- • Light density — Fewer moments identified, lower credit cost.
- • Dense — More moments, higher credit cost.
- • AI's Pick — The AI decides how many moments fit the script, so the preview shows a range rather than a fixed number.
For more on how density affects analysis, see B-Roll Density.
Running Low on Credits
If your balance is too low to cover an operation, you'll see a warning before anything starts. The operation won't begin, so you won't be partially charged.
To top up, click the credit balance badge in the header or go to Settings > Credits and click Buy Credits.
Tip: Keep an eye on the header badge while working through a large script. The balance updates after each operation, so you'll always know where you stand before starting the next one.
